While Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, and Joey Votto represent a triumvirate of studs at the 1B position, there’s a pretty steep drop off. Even just 5 years ago the back end of the top 10 was filled with studs, but now there are just question marks. That’s not to say that there aren’t many intriguing options. Paul Konerko, Mark Teixeira, and Adrian Gonzalez represent some familiar faces, and Allen Craig, Paul Goldschmidt, and Freddie Freeman some new ones.
As for drafts — after those top guys are off the board we’d recommend waiting and filling out other positions because the 15-20 range and the 5-10 range really aren’t all too different. Eric Hosmer could have a bounce back year, Corey Hart is decent, and Justin Morneau is a former MVP. There will definitely be adjustments as spring training goes on and we get closer to spring training, so stay posted and always feel free to tweet us @RotoAnalysis!
NOTE: a rank of “40″ means they were unranked, and is simply used to calculate the average rank.

Hello, your articles here Fantasy Baseball Preseason Rankings: Top 30 First Basemen | Roto Analysis to write well, thanks for sharing!
As I’ve continued to ask all off-season when these 1B rankings come out, where is Garrett Jones? He had almost identical stats as Cory Hart minus something like 15 runs (off the top of my head). I’m not saying it is wrong for him to not be ranked, I would just like an explaination.
He was one of our guys right on the edge. I had him #30 until I realized Frazier was eligible. he’s definitely on the same tier as some of these other guys but his HR/FB rate was inflated last year and his walk rate declined to the lowest rate of his career.
